Korea: Jeonju Trip

On March 1st, Korean Independence Day, my girlfriend, Christine, and I decided to go on a trip to Jeonju, where I spent my first year in Korea. I got to be a tour guide for a Korean! Plus, she researched extra places to go in Jeonju.

At ~8:00 AM on March 1st, we met at Seomyeon in Busan to go to the bus station in Sasang. At the bus station, we were informed that all the tickets to Jeonju were sold out until the afternoon! Why did half of Busan decide to go to Jeonju!? Good thing Korea isn't that big!

U-square, a bus station and shopping mall combined!

Instead, we went to Gwangju (an hour or so South of Jeonju) to get another bus to take us to Jeonju.

Bibimbap! Look at all those side dishes...

This is what Jeonju's so famous for--its food! So as soon as we got there, we ate some bibimbap. Bibimbap is a mix of lots of different things. It was delicious!

Then, we went to Hannok Maeul (the traditional village). There, we saw a lot of traditional Korean houses, and people (probably from Busan).

Oh yeah, there's also a catholic church in this village! It's pretty cool to see that here in Korea.

One place she really wanted to visit was this bakery that's famous on the internet. On the first day that we visited it, it was sold out of ingredients to make its famous snack at around 4 PM! The following day, it was sold out again! A little disappointing, but that didn't put us down :(.

A hiking trail near the village

Anyway, there were lots of beautiful pictures to be taken. Speaking of photography, I even saw a coworker from Busan in Jeonju taking pictures, too. See? I told you Busan invaded that weekend.

On the next day, we went to Deokjin Park. It doesn't look so nice in the winter, but it was still really nice place to walk around.

Then, we went to eat dalkgalbi (grilled spicy chicken) near Jonbuk University. I claim that it's the best dalkgalbi in the world. This has yet to be disproved!

One famous place that Christine found on the internet is this bakery: PNB.

It's so famous that we waited for around an hour in the line.

All for just 6 chocolate pies (there was a limit of 3 per person). They were definitely delicious, but not worth the wait.

The Road of God

All in all, it was a fantastic trip to reminisce on my first year of Korea and to be a tour guide for the wonderful Ms. Yang. Jeonju's famous for its food, so we made the most out of our trip by eating some of the most tasty food Korea has to offer, because...
